LP head or Not THAT is the question

Hello, I was just getting ready to put in a clutch on a 53 Super M and noticed it had a C281 motor. I had a friend look @ it and he thinks it may have a factory LP head. What is the best way to tell. This one doesnt have a vent tube and has a breather in the valve cover. If someone has a # I can look @ the casting # under the valve cover.

A IH 450 gas head is 362174, I doubt if its a LP head its no. is 364586 most 281 motors have left hand nut that holds the cam gear on .If you have the head off the combustion chamber on a lp head is 118 cc the SM to 450 gas head cumbustion chamber is 190 to 220 cc you'll notice the difference by just looking at the cumbustion chamber.

I pulled the valve cover and the # is 364586 R1-2. What to do now as I am getting this tractor ready to sell. Seams that someone built a Super Duper M.

An outside appearence difference too, Look at where the Intake manifold bolts on the head,, It has a different casting in that spot,, you can see the ports casated on the outside,, where the regular heads are just a smooth casting,, ChadS

Its all there. The engine has a C code as well making it a full LP set up converted to gasoline. I do know that the local Case IH rebuilt this engine less than 100 running hours ago.

I just had it sitting out back with the rest of them waiting to get restored. I havent done any pulling as I like them farm stock. THis one would make a good puller I think. Its covered in surface rust but has that sleeper power plant. It would kinda be like that ole junky looken GTO back in high school that nobody could ever beat no matter how good looken their rides were.
