GOT ASKED BY MY FRIEND GARY, IF I WANTED TO GO TO TUNICA. HE SAID HE THOUGHT I MIGHT HAVE A CHANCE AT THE KING OF THE HILL. I SAID SURE. DROVE 14 HOURS, SAW WHAT I HAD TO PULL AGAINST, GOT DREPRESSED, SAID I DID'NT HAVE A PRAYER. OUTLAWS, DIV. 5 TRACTORS, THOUGHT A DIV 3 NATPA LEGAL 'M' DID'NT HAVE A CHANCE. ALMOST BACKED OUT. GARY SAID YOU'LL BE SURPRISED. IT DOES'NT TAKE THAT BIG OF HORSEPOWER, GUESS HE WAS RIGHT!
AFTER 32 YEARS OF PULLING THIS WAS THE MOST UNFORGETTABLE VICTORY! I HAVE TO THANK FITZGERALDS, THE MEAN GREEN PULLING TEAM, USAP, AND EVERYONE WHO WORKED SO HARD TO MAKE IT SUCH A GREAT PULL, AND ESPECIALLY GARY BAKER WHO BROUGHT ME THERE, AND HELPED MAKE MY TRACTOR WHAT IT IS. I MADE A LOT OF FRIENDS, MET SOME OF THE NICEST PEOPLE. I FEEL MORE LIKE KING OF THE WORLD!

Sure thought the big ole MM would get it again but it looked like you got him by 6 foot or so.Had her hooked good and took the G by about the same amount as the MM.Congradulations to you and we enjoyed just being there to see it.

THE M DID A FINE JOB EVERYTIME HE PULLED, THE MAIN I THINK THAT MADE ME LOOK AT HIM MORE WAS THAT HE DIDN'T RUN THE HIGH RPMS, WE HEARD FROM SOME OF THE OTHER TRACTORS. HE MADE A VERY FAIR PULL ON THE KOH AND WON FAIR AND SQUARE. HAVE A GOOD DAY, RAY

Hi Gary,, It has been a long time since I have spoke with you,, I don't know if you remeber me,, but I pulled with you while you were pulling you H back in 98-2000,, I am glad to hear that your M's are running so good!! I have heard all sorts of good things about your work!! Is it true you have a M down in 3500? ChadS I do remember you and your dad. Hartford Kentucky. The 3500# 'M' is Tomac's. They are running one of my engines. Thanks for the complement! Would like to go to some usap pulls this winter. I will be at Hartford NATPA pull Jan. 10 & 11th. Maybe I will see you there.

It's tough to get the M to hook up in the light classes but we managed a 3rd in the 3500 8mph, a 4th in the 4200 unlimited and a 4th in the 4500 8mph. These were large classes with 20-30+ tractors and tough competition in all three classes.

Gary knows how to make power, especially with the Farmalls. He built the motors or built engine parts for three out of the top four tractors in the 4200 unlimited and 4500 8mph. Not to mention he worked with Jim building the motor that powered his Farmall M to a 1st in the 7250 KOH and a 2nd in the 6500 4mph.

JIM BENJAMIN BUILDA MY CRANKS. I SOLD HIM PARTS PISTONS, CAM, HEAD, ETC. JIM ASSEMBLED HIS MOTOR AND DESERVES THE CREDIT. SURE RUNS GOOD.
AS FOR MY 'M' SAT I PLACED 3RD IN 4500 8 MPH OUT OF 38. 5200 UNLIMITED SLED BROKE BEFORE MY PULL.
DID'NT ACT RIGHT (NOT TO MAKE EXCUSES). SLED LOADED & UNLOADED ME HARD! BROKE COUNTERSHAFT IN TRANS. TRACTOR DID'NT LIKE IT!

I THOUGHT WE DONE A GOOD JOB,FRIDAY MORNING SEVERAL HIGH HORSE-RPM TRACTORS HOOKED DURING THE PRACTICE PULLS.EVERYTHING WENT FINE THE TRACK WAS DRY AND TIRE SLIPPAGE WAS OKAY.THEY WET THE TRACK ,SATURDAY IT WAS SPONGY TIRES GOT MORE OFA BITE,THATS WHEN HIGH HORSE TRACTORS GET TO WHEELHOPPING AND JERKING,THAT IS WHEN IT BREAKS AXLES ON SLED.MY OPINON THE TRACK WAS TO HEAVY,OUTLAW TEAM DID NOT WORK TRACK,ALL IN ALL WENT GOOD. KY CREW MEMBER

Mean Green's intent was to have a tight track otherwise it would have been all to pieces with as many hooks as we had. The rules for the "No Speed Limit Classes" was to limit RPM to 30% over original stock tractor RPM specs. Don't know that all strictly adhered to this rule. Them "bad boys" just like to show their stuff...
