always thought f-20 and 10-20 were same and f-30 and 15-30 or 22-36 were same...we have several of both but have never transplanted...there is a narrow tread f-20 running here in central mo that is very competitive think he is running jd 4020 pistons in it

The 10-20 block is about as close to a bolt in replacement as you can get! Same bore and stroke but less compression ratio. Cam timing is slightly different, but using the f30 head on the 10-20 cam will yeild more lift due to the difference in rocker arm ratio. There may be a few untapped accessory holes in the 10-20 block, just depends on what year it is. A very overlooked engine for pulling. We,ve built a number of these engines to 701 ci.

You know it, Phil. Are you wanting to build an F30 or 1020? I've heard there is a pretty good 1020 out there, some where. Do you know of anyone that has done anything with an F 20? I've never seen one strong enough to start a sled.

I am not sure about now but there will be a f-20 able to pull sled next spring. In process of putting a IHC 549 V-8 gas truck engine in a f-20 chassis. Tim

I'm sorry, I thought this forum was about antique and classic tractor pulling... I guess I was mistaken. If you have to put a V8 in an antique tractor frame, just so you can run with the big boys, that's your business, but it sounds like you don't have what it takes to make a stock block hang on the track.

The only reason for putting the V-8 in the stock tractor chassis is I have it. I already pull a stock F-20, stock Regular, stock Super M and a stock MM UTS. And working on a W-6 and a B Farmall. But at our club pulls they always have a friend who shows up and puts on a show with a 4430 JD just for fun. As long as I had a extra F-20 here, Why not have some fun with it. Plus it shore will sound good with 4 inch straights and propane burpers. Tim

Years back,, there was a F-20 out of Illinois that pulled the sled at 4500,5000,5500 in second gear,, Don't know what was done to it,, had to pull it to start it. Seen it in Columbus Super pull. ChadS
