Has anyone ran the "Sportsman" motor for an M built by Lemmon's? Is it worth the money or can a man build it himself for less expense?

Yes you could build it cheaper,, they are good engines,, They have an amazing tourque curve,, How many cubes is their sportman engines? ChadS

So it would be a 4.25 bore,, with a 6.5 stroke or somewhere in that range,, I know of one like this down in southern Indiana,, it is a lemmons,, He says it is about 80 hp,, but it has a basicly stock head on it,, It pulled good at princeton,, It would be just as easy to use the setup Ohio M puller recommends with the 4020JD pistons and 6.5 or something like that,, he says that that engine ran very strong,, he could tell you more about it,, CHadS

My cousin pulled the white and black M at Princeton in the superfarm, stock M w/ LP head, he is wanting to go into the engine this winter and we are just trying to get some ideas for it. Does anyone have a complete motor for sale between 75 and 100 hp, he may be interested in that!

I don't run a Lemmon's motor, but I do know the guys at the shop. Greg worjked on Dad's tractors when Dad was still farmin and before Greg went high perf. Paul and I graduated together. All I will say is that when I have talked motors w/ them they know what they are talkin about!

Can you build it cheaper? Yeah probably. Can you do it with no hassles. I don't know. Can you do it with out any less guess work. I doubt it.

This is just my opinion, but if you want to just buy and drop in a competitive motor Lemmons is a great choice.

I seen it!! Ran pretty good. Did you have the MM U? Nice tractor,, I seen a white G 6 down there tooo,,, did not see it pull, but I love the paint scheme.. How light can your U get? ChadS

That was my U! we got 6th in 5000, 4th in 5500, 1st in 6000, and 3rd in the 6500! with me on the tractor it weighs 4730 and we have no aluminum on it at all! used to run a fiberglass oil pan but it always leaked so i put the cast one back on! really want to get it in the 4500!

Got to give credit the tradition team made some great hooks in princeton would love to see your dads hook again in the 6000. you have got us a little scared to even try to compete. Quess what not scared anymore were coming see you at calhoun I hope just be gentle. By the way tractor seems to run better with water
