What is the best compression ratio for a G? To get the best HP out of it. I have read post from before on octane and wondered if there was much difference in the power of the tractor that runs 93 octane vs 110 octane given that the 110 oct. was higher compression tractor. thanks

Being that this is my first post in a long time. I think I will refrain from stirring the pot with the compression topic.

To achieve a higher compression, the most common configuration deals with changing the head or pistons or head/piston combo. Most would agree that a flat head and high aluminum pistons yields a level of compression that can cause some problems (flat head flexing, head gasket troubles)that may require additional machine work. The cheapest way to achieve the 175-200 psi range is the cyclone head milled up to .250 (into the eyebrow) and aluminum pistons.

Compression is only one factor to consider when completing a total performance rebuid. (Air in-Air out, fuel, etc....)

Hope this helps

Burns: Have not seen much of you this year. We would like to see more of the Burnsomatic up this way next year. Thumper likes the company. Near lookalikes.

I've been really busy with my regular job and working for the family business on the weekends and holidays.

Still a little ticked that I only made it to about 1/3 of the pulls this year when compared to last season. Busy replacing an active sanitary line the whole rainy month of July.

Have a bored and stroked g at 110 hp, at 11-1 comp. lugs fine in 2nd gear in 7000 class, in 5500 runs 3-4th gear, not too many will lug at all in those high of gears.
