Thanks Doc!! Here is a few tips on H's,, start with swaping out the cam like you said,, will help low end power, also get a SH-350 intake and carb,, Run a compression test,, let me know what it is,, I can tell you about where the engine would be in HP. Now,, Distributors,, GET AN ELECTRONIC IGNITION!! My Brother in law got one for his Massey 101,, what a lightning bolt!! Go to a parts store and get a chevy distributor recurve kit,, you want to install the lightest springs tha the kit has,, then, get a good governor spring,, The farmall governor is the easiest to hop up,, just change the spring!! The reason for this,, is to speed up the governors mechanical operation,, will boost throttle responce by 30% I have springs that will wake it up too,, I would pull off the valve cover, and with a compression guage,, adjust the valve lash until peak cyl pressure is acheived, do one at a time,, the guage is like checking your work,, Check to see what the casting number is,, a good number to look for is an 8043D,, it is the high compression head for the H_SH-300-350,, with the right machine work,, it could match the lp head. The 8043 can be milled about .110 safely,, I also have thin copper head gaskets too,, it boosts compression by 10-15psi per cyl,, more could be possible if you have M&W pistons,, or firecraters. Think this over,, Let me know if ya have more questions,, happy to help,, ChadS
