THAT'S NOT A BAD HEAD TO START WITH 400-450 HEAD BREATHES BETTER. USE A 400PROPANE MANIFOLD. WHAT SIZE PISTONS ARE IN THE BLOCK. COMPRESSION IS REAL LOW ON THE SUPER-M. SHAVING A BUNCH OFF THE HEAD WILL HELP BUT NOT THAT MUCH. FIND OR HAVE SOMEONE MAKE UP A VERY THIN HEAD GASKET. STOCK IS ABOUT .O68THDS. NEED ABOUT 20-30THDS. ARE YOU RUNNING A DOME . THEIRE A NEW GUY IN THE HOOK MAG.
STARTS WITH A (V) VONEGER OR SOMETHING GIVE HIM A CALL ON PISTONS. YOU GOT TO GET THE COMPRESSION UP!!

I know of one that was ground .180,that was the first and only time ground. This tractor pulls and is used on the farm with no leaks or overheating. Thats was a 8060 casting also.

You should be able to take off .075 pretty safely,, that will help give it some compression,, just rejet the carb a little ritcher,, What is the casting number on the head? ChadS

The 8060 head should do you justice. It is the only head you can mill up to .125 off of it and still be ok. The 806 base and venturi will make it breathe better. Make sure that you get as much compression as you can. use a .020 copper gasket,, some light grinding on the pistons may need to be done, for clearence. light springs in the mechanical advance, and a good stiff governor spring,, rejet the carb, and use a good grade fuel,, I prefer an ethanol based fuel. It shoud have around 165 to 180psi of compression, depending on how thick of head gasket you use,, should be good for about 68-70 for a 264,, and 75-78hp for a 281. I have some more good sugesstions,, just email me [email protected],, I will share them with ya!! ChadS
