I understand the Rock-it governor to be a copy of the M&W. I run one and like it fine, but I run stock rpms.

M&w governors are not for pulling,, they are slow and unresponcive. Due to the 4 weight system.. they are desighed to hold at 1650rpm.. The 2 weight system will give instant throttle responce,, and higher rpm options,, with lees to do to them Most of the time,, the 2 weight system,, all you have to do is change the spring,, to make the governor respond,,,, Look for the 2 weight governors,,, unles you want it to be a show piece... I have 7 M&W governors,, but won't do any good for pulling,,, just my 2 cents worth,,, ChadS

I have aquestion about the governors Chad. You say they are made to hold the RPM and are not responsive. Would that be a good thing on a frm Stock tractor that pulls in first gear as it would not let it bog down right? My son pulls a Super M and it has plenty of time at the first of a pull to get the RPM up there and does a decen job of holding it now but if that would hold it even better I might look into one.

We have an extra stock governor that my dad is thinking of lightening the weights some to make it open up faster. Would it be better to just use a lighter spring?

Thanks!

It is difficult to get higher rpms out of th 4 weight system,, and because of the 4 weights,, it responds slower. and hold the rpms UNDER 2000 lots of people have tried and succeeded in hoping them up,, but the time amd money you spend on the M&W,, the stocker will be unbeatable. Yes, you could lighten up the weights,, it would help tremedously. ( times out of 10,, with the 2 weight systems,, all it takes is a good spring to increase the throttle responce. Like I said before,, a stiff spring,, will increase rpms,, then back the rpm range to the preferred setting. Works every time. ChadS
