I have a friend who has a 4010 with a combine engine that might be for sale. Good starter tractor for a newly single puller. Fun, goes fast & is green. Lives south of Greenville Oh. You know who I mean. Good luck in your Quest. [We'll be at Wausen Oh. fri.& sat.,come on up]

A reindeere maybe, but if your talking tractor I would try something with some nards. Maybe a avery V, Cub, Or 8N but not a deere.

Stweart:

Depends on what classes you want to do and whether farm stock, open farm, or higher. If I were to do Deere again, I would go with a 4440. You will pay $10,000-12,000 for one that is somewhat rough though. They already have a 466 engine with the inline pump, the rest of the tractor is very strong, if you go with the quad range tranny. You could also get a cheaper 4430 with the 404 engine and modify it a little or just swap engines to a 466. Definately pick a tractor with an inline fuel pump and turboed from the factory with at least the 404 engine. This would be a good powerplant to build (4430-4440 with 466) but will be expensive compared to the other brands. Just depends on how much of a die hard deere fan you are, I had a deere and went to a oliver 1900 with a 2 stroke detroit :)

If your looking for a good and fairly cheap puller go with a late model A with the creeper gear, you can get in the 5600 class up to 8600lbs. and still have power. Just my 2 cents.

Now that we have the mandatory smart a** comment out of the way, there are alot of hard to beat A's, G's, 620, 720, 730, 80's, 820 (you get the idea) out there. If you pour enough money into anything, you can make it pull. Start with something simple (any color of tractor that is running good) in the farm stock classes and have fun while you are geting your education from the more experienced pullers.
