What is the horse power limit for 3250# NATPA rules? . How do they govern that class? Any comments would be appreciated.

Would a Super A Farmall competative in this class? The weight would be no problem.

Are you talking div 3? If you are I talked to one of the guys on the NATPA contact list, I don't remember who. He told me that the class was basiclly made for the B JD. Just one E-3 Co-op does good last year and they boot them out of the class.

I see they let a MM335 in that class, which has almost the same horsepower by Nebraska test book 30 hp, as the 30 Cockshutt If there going to let the MM in, they should let the 30 back in. I don' t get what there doing.

There is no horse power limit. They go by RPM with a percentige tolerance according to the make and year of your tractor. I hope this helps.

They allow 10% over stock RPM for div 2 and 3 and 20% over stock for div4. In 3250 there is only div 3 and 4. I dont know if a A Farmall would hack it or not. There are some Farmall C's that do well in that class. They dont let the Farmall H's and the WC allis in 3250.

Why wouldn't they allow an H Farmall or a WC Allis if they weighed in ok?

If that is a serious question, I'll give you an answer. Because a stock John Deere B, a stock Farmall F-12, F-14, and Super C are totally different creatures than a stock Farmall H or an AC WC, which stock is the only fair comparison of all tractors, because once they leave a pullers barn, shop, or whatever, they are typically far from stock, and no one is equal anymore. The NATPA refers to this grouping in their general rules, #14 to be exact. "Like size" tractors are grouped together to keep a level playing field. All pullers and their tractors are members of a protected species, even though it doesn't seem like it with the drastic weight reductions in division IV and V classes by some of the larger tractors! As for the MM and Co-op, neither one of them belong in 3250. It was brought to the attention of the board members many times during the 2002 pulling season, but they did not attempt to correct the issue with the Co-op until the end of the year. Hopefully, the board will follow up with the MM owner and correct this issue sooner than later.

What he means is all the little B JD were getting beat by the H & WC who could make 3250. So they blocked them out. The WC is comparable to a B JD or Super C, but they can make a lot more power cheaper. I'd say the same with the the Co-op.
But that's how they want to play, so let 'em. Forget all the inventive guys who say diets are cheaper than stroker cranks.
Before any body jumps on my back. I could careless. My M runs fine in 4500 & 5500, but would I like to drop down to 4000, sure. There are a couple 460's here that are pushing more than my 307 ci.
They're just trying to break up the class spreads, but say what it is, not the "like size" BS.

The engine in the A is 132 CID.Replacement parts from TISCO. But the one problem is it has a faster gearing than a C. But I am willing to try it sometime.

The Farmall C's do really good. I don't think a A farmall would do very good in that class, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to try it.

There are two very strong JD B's that run in that class but I did not see them on the results from Columbia. There is also a 230 that runs in that class and I think he won it last year. Check the results from last years schedule. Hope this helps.
