How much money would I have wrapped up in a 1466 motor to get it to run in 7th gear without having to pull the TA back? I've heard that hypermax makes kits for 570 cid. I know what a 13mm pump runs and the price of a hot turbo. What do you guys think I need to be competitive?

Ill farm stock tractors, 466 cubes, p-pumps, 2500rpm and 3lm turbos can run 8th gear, with a t/a and some without, at 9500 lbs. James Weaver of "Virginian" fame had two 1466's that'd run 7th gear at 15,000lbs---but that whey were LaGod motors. Another issue besides weight, is rpm range and possible camshaft upgrades, no matter what rpm you run. the ill boys run Vogel cams, and some run Berry units, but Vogel is by far the most common, from the info I've received. Also check pulloff.com, for pulling parts----the sites loaded with hipo and hi$$$$ items. Good Luck, BigART

I set up a 966 puller put a factory turbo on and turned up the fuel not quite half ways and we could pull in 6 with the TA.So if you are going to pull it you could turn up the pump all the way and then add a 3LM turbo i think you can run in 7 but im not positive.Check back with me later becase that is what I have to do to our 966.

It depends on what weight class your pulling, tire size etc... i would think with the things you have in mind you should be alright because the pump and hot turbo will boost your power alot, but i dont know what kind of power its going to take to run in 7th gear, thats a rwal high gear to pull in.
