Put a detroit 2-53 2-71 in a Farmall C???

My grandday has a detroit 2-53 , 2-71 or maybe it is a 2-91. it has been a long time since i saw it.But he said i could have it. I take my Farmall C to local antique tractor pulls. I was wondering if anyone has ever seen a FC with one of these detroit engines in it. Do you think it would have any better power or just be plain cool? I just wonder about the gearing, the stock IH motor turns at 1800 to 2000 tops. a detroit 2-53, 71, or 91 , will turn 2800 easy. seems like 1st gear will be a little fast. Any comments welcome. Mike

I have a F-12 parts tractor I'd like to put a 2-53 or 2-71 cyl into. Has anyone done this? If anyone has powerunit with a clutch I may be interested.

Hey did I ever tell you about my Cub with a 8v92tt in it.Use it to mow the lawn and other light chores.Keep the M with the allison v12 for the heavy work ya know.

F Mike, I can tell you this much a 4-53 is a way to much for a C, my buddy bought one just to play with and in no way could I get it to hook in 3rd gear, and 4th (Road)gear being way to much for it to handle, It was a kick to run,3600 RPM in 3rd gear, just a throwing dirt@ 9.6 MPH with the sled.
It was a neat bolt up,but really think a H M or W-4 would be much better for a 4-53.(5 speeds) Or your C with a 2-53 would be a neat setup.
Just the .02 from this neck of the woods.

Bob, I believe ya. I agree, a 4cyl detroit would be kick-ass in an M. Of course, a Mack diesel in a 460 or bigger would be cool, especially if you crank the pump way up & get it to blow fire.

Bindernut....Got a little too many diesel fumes once. Hooked for life. :D
