Want puller pics with aircraft V-12 or turbine

I would like to build a detailed model of a puller with Allison/Merlin/Griffon engines or turbines. I need pics of pretty much everything on it. I just got a small lathe and mill and I'm having fun making model parts. Working on a Ferrari V-12 for a '32 Highboy right now. I'd really love to do a wild puller.

Thanks, Lee

Just a thought...

If you are going to build a model with the engine visible, many aircraft model kits (or companies that make accessories for them) now have very detailed engines (in various scales/sizes), which would save you a bunch of time. All you need to know is what aircraft used the engine you want.

For example, the P-38, P-39, most P-40, and early P-51s used the Allison V-12s.

Merlins were used in a BUNCH of the British aircraft like the Hurricane, Spitfire, Mosquito, Lancaster, etc. Along with some American planes like the later P-51s, and some P-40s.

These are just lists off the top of my head.

If you want to find sources for these engine kits (or just detailed photos of engines to build your own), here is just a couple of the many aircraft modelling websites out there:

HyperScale.com
AircraftResourceCenter.com

This year I saw a puller with an engine out of a PT Boat (World War II). Very cool! Didn't see him run though.

Good luck!

Most of the PT boats used Packard or Scott marine engines that were described as running fools. The Allison aircraft engines were of Cadillac Motor Division engineering heritage. Uncle Sam is said to have twisted their arm a little having considered their sound designs and incredible standards of quality control standards used in the production of the V-12 and V-16 Cadillac and LaSalle engines in previous years.

I've never heard of any problems with the Packards either (thanks for the name, couldn't remember when I posted). Good engines, in a little boat! It's scary if you think about it. A wooden boat, full of av-gas, guns, ammuntion, and four torpedoes!

Check out www.pullingworld.com It is a European site with a lot of pics of v-12's and turbines.
