My dad and i bought a 38 John Deere A and was wondering which way to build a puller. Could you get more horsepower using a Heisler head and a early styled A crank bored .125 over or using the old head stroking the crank 2" and boring .125 over? Any suggestions would greatly appreciated.

If you have the tractor apart already and are in the process of putting it back together, I would recommend the stroke. Although there is alot of time and worked involved, you will smile when you see the results. Recommend if you are going to go through the work, go with a 9.0 to 9.25 inch stroke. With a little port and polish work to the head and manifold, you should have a really nice running A. Just my two cents!
