My grandfather just recently passed away and he left me his International 1066. He knew that i had always wanted to get into tractor pulling. It was just restored 3 years ago and is in mint condition. Where should i start to make this tractor competitive?

go to the junk yard and get a rearend and tranny and engine.do not cut up a good field tractor to pull with.if you intend to pull out of the field just turn up the pump and go.

There competative without doing anything to them as long as the motor isn't shot. turn up the rpms and the pump.

that depends on what the other tractors in the class have done. if one guy is running a 540 c.i. Riverside motor then you'll have to back up and punt on just twisting screws. if all the other tractors are running under rules that keep them basically stock (just the fuel and r's turned up a little) then you won't have any trouble competing.

just put a turbo on the 1066 of a 466 ci IH motor and adjust the goveners a little and you can get between 250 to 275 hp .then you can run in 2nd high
