Hi Im 15 and new to pulling. How much does a Farmall H weight? Or what class will it pull in? Whats the lowest class with no weights and still stock tractor? Meaning the pto and everything is still in there. I weight 130-140. What is the highest class I can competitivly pull in? I have several sets of weights. It has 12.4 38 tires on it. What gear is a good gear to pull in? What throttle do you start at? I am hoping to get a Farmall M to fix into a pulling tractor soon. Anyone know of any cheap ones around Ohio? It dont have to be pretty just able to fix to pull. Thanks.

I have a 1945 H that my wife has been pulling . It weighed nearly 4500# with one wheel weight and driver. it has the low gears we were not doing too well so decided to experiment and weighted it down to 5500# she has been doing real well in that class in fact twice she has beat me on my M. It is completelty stock except I changed the distilate head for gas head. we pull mostly dead weight so a lot of the time it is how and where you are on the track . but all in all I am well pleased with the way it has been doing. we are in western mich and only 3 or 4 pulls left.will be giving it a try on the transfer sled in two weeks. When you say you were not doing well...do you mean that you were spinning out in the lighter classes or what?

Yes it was spinning out. I have 13.6 38 tires.I haven't run out of power yet on dead weight pull at just above idle speed to start out and increase rpm as it begins to move. (my method) I watch a lot of hot rod harry's start out with full throtle and then some .seems hard on equipment to me but then they probably have more money to spend and don't have to do the work themself.Like I said before I have low speed gears I believe that to be a bonus,will know better after doing it for a year.

Not nearly enough motor to compete. We have 11.8x38 tires on it. Maybe with 34" or even 30" rubber on, it would not be so embarrasing. Motor runs well, just tooooo heavy for the classes it has to pull in.

STOCK H will weigh about 3800#. They have too much weight, too high a 1st gear (where you want to pull in), and not enough hp to be competative. If you pull in the div 1 (COMPLETELY stock) classes, you might have a chance.

Almost anything can be made to pull competatively, just how much money do you have.

MY Super H farmall weighs 3700lbs with me on it. It has spoke rear wheels, and cast front wheels. We are not allowed to run pressed steel rims in our farm stock classes, so if I could get rid of the front cast wheels, it would be about 120lbs lighter. My modified Hs, weigh 3325, with me on it no weights. full set of pressed steel wheels. The lighter you can make a stock tractor, with a small hp engine, the more you will be able to utilize the power you have already. Just my experience with H pulling tractors. Modified and stock.
