Has anyone had any experience with sleeving either a Unstyled JD G Block or Power Block? Have looked at a Jerry's Block, but there has been some debate on the use of the block in the clubs I currently pull with. I would hate to pay $4,000 and not be able to use it later! Currently running a 621 cubic inch styled JD G and would be looking to rework it to 800+. Not sure if I would utilize my existing tractor, or transfer the parts to my 1938 JD G. What size bore is obtainable with either one of these blocks and who would you recommend for the work? Thanks for the help.

Do you have to do any grinding to get a 7 in bore to fit in the crankcase.

dont waste a 1938 unstyled G that is such a waste especially when parts are hard enough to find for them and then when you grind the crank case out that just weaked the motor and therefore you take more risk of that motor letting go! then you have nothing, and you just spent alot of money for what? bragging rights or a 50cent trophy thats just my opinion what ever happend to antique tractor pulls????? ?????

Sounds like you have enough cubes....!! Has ANYONE tried increasing the inertial weight of the flywheel...??? A 1/4" or 1/2" band of steel on the outer edge of the flywheel would really help keep all that hardware up to speed in between power strokes...!! An engine like the 2-cylinder JD needs an increase in flywheel mass, as Cubic inches are increased...

I believe u can go up to 7.5 but it really does take some of the strength out of the crankcase.Im running a 7inch bore and it was tight ,but it just deepends on how much time and money u wanna put in it.As for resleeving a powerblock, its not easy but any machine shop should be able to do it.The key is getting the o rings in the block to fit around the sleeves without pinching them.Ive tried to do it,but Id rather be getting a root canal then to try it again.
