I am interested in a 88 and would like to get it in the 4000 class.I would have 15.5 x 38 cut tires on 16" pressed steel rims and weld on hubs.I would take off the hydraulics, pto and belt pulley. What else would I need to do to get it down to 4000. Thanks in advance!

Dale , the 1st thing you need to do is find a place to pull an 88 in the #4000. Orgs. like the NATPA which is organized by WC allis pullers, FOR WC allis pullers won't let you pull in any class that might cause competetion for them. They keep 190 cube 77s out of the #3500 and 231 cube 88s out of the #4000 while letting approved 223 cube WCs w/ D17 or gleaner E combine engines monopolize both. You might want to reconsider and get an Allis. The guys that write the rules all have em. Gary Mitchell

That is no problem. The club I pull in and the surrounding area pulls allow you to pull with a stock block tractor no matter what it is.

Dale,
Havent you learned anything yet, you know the only color for a pulling tractor is Prairie Gold.
You let me work on your tractor this winter and you wont want a green tractor. Of course i do still have to give you credit for trying, an oliver is still agco.
See ya monday

If your club goes by NATPA rules it is illegal to pull in division 1 under shipping weight and same for #2 division.#3 88's are not allowed under 4500# and division 4 you can get to 4000#s. There are a lot of other clubs and rules out there but if you you pull in NATPA you need to come up with a lot of horsepower as well as a severe diet. Back to the diet, you can replace the front wheels with smaller one and may even be able to find a replacement for the front bolster. Strip the pto out of it too.

I have seen some put tubing for the steering rods, cut the webbing out under the bell housing, putting a 66 front on it(although some have made a wide front light so you can see the front wheels down the track), put on an aluminum trans cover, and a lot of other things.

I alos heard they wait until the last minute to cross the scale when there up to pull. I agree on the wide front, cause you hate to hit the guard rail. Its also one less ramp to carry olong I have found out.

don't list to agco puller--"it would be hard to get that done"---heck, there are 88's in the 3750 and 3500..that takes "work", not making 4000 though!!!

I think that's illegal in most stock(division II and III) pulling rules you are not being very nice to your little brother the 77 which balances very well by 4000 lbs. The open(division IV and V) it's legal but you better get some bigger tires than that and be packin 500 plus cubes to compete. To get back to you question though I would try an aluminum radiator cause you'll be a little nose heavy. Your stock shipping weight was about 4,750 so you will need to loose about 900 lbs. That's quite a bit but it can be done.
