bite problem with new tires

hey, i just put a new set of 15.5x38 tires on my stock 400 farmall. i pulled it this saturday on a dry clay track with an 18 inch drawbar hieght and pulling off the solid drawbar, not the swinging. i pulled in the 5501-6000 with no wieghts and 20 lbs. pressure i weighted 5910 and ran first gear... just like pulling on ice.i think i made 130 feet. everyone else was 160 or above. then i pulled in the 6501-7000.. two full wieghts and a half wieght, 10 lbs. pressure and i pulled it little better but only 15 feet farther using the same gear..... what is my problem??

Mine bite the track well, they are 14.9's on a 14" rim and in my light class I usually only run about 6 lbs. in them. How wide are your rims?

the best tires that you could get would be worn down evenly with around 25% of the tread left. there was an article in the farm journal years back with a test of new tires against 80% worn tires and the worn down tires pulled more even in the field. you should also lower your tire pressure to around eleven or twelve pounds so your tires will grab ahold of the track better. good luck in the future.

Throw the new ones aside and put your old ones back on. I have never seen new tires do very good. Just my opinion. H.H.

Not to critisize you but my new tires beat old
tires about 60 to 75 percent of the time, on a
sticky track they can't be beat....but on an
extremely hard slick track they get walked all
over..i have ran them on the road for about 2
hours though NOT SPUN THEM BACKWARDS... that never
helped us

the lugs on new tires are soft and can fold on a hard track. They seem to do very well on loose tracks. The lugs on old sun hardened tires do well on hard tracks.
