i have a crank shaft from a 44 Massey harris engine that i just bought. the guy that sold me the motor said thatthe governer was the only thing that was not right on that motor. well i have found that to be not quite the trueth. the cranck shaft has one crank pin that has a ware spot that is almost.0040 deeper than the rest of the pin the rest are in great shape. the crank was already cut at one time and is .002 below std they are just a little imperfect were a wire wheel with a brass brush should clean them up. i was thinking that i might cut them all down .004 but than i thought that i should just have the one welded up and cut back to match the others. what i want to know, is what is the aveage price for haveing the crank cut down .004 and what is the cost of haveing the crank welded on one pin and cut to size? would it be cheaper to have it welded up that way? i know thatit would be cheaper geting bearings with haveing the crank welded and cut to match the rest. as i can stil get that size from the factory.

I looked up spec in the Federal Mogul Brg. Manual. It looks like the undersize available would be .010,.020..030 on con rods and mains brgs. The only mains listed were for the straight shell front main with thrust washers. No .002 or .004 brgs available. (Earl In Illinois)
