Three simple questions for all you pullers.

1)Will posi trac help an antique tractor? Tell me if you have one and if it helps?

2) What is it, in details. I know how posi trac works, but what parts are neede to add it to an antique tractor. Are we talking about a real posi trac unit or just shims behind the spider gears?

3) What does it cost to have it put on a UB Moline or a M IH? Someone has got to know this one. Share it with us.

Thanks.

I want to apologise in advance to all of YT readers, But I have got something to say.

Nick, If you want to call me a f***ing moron you do it to my face. I don't think you have enough knowledge to even load a tractor on a trailer let alone pull one. When you grow a brain, You are not interested in learning anything, you did not put that post on here to ask about posi tracs or how to build a MM U of farmall M. Why? because you don't know sh!t about pulling or how to treat people with the respect and kindness that they deserve. I was not angry until I found the post you left me about timing a tractor. You are probably the 15 year old, wet behind the ear puller that everyone enjoys to beat at the pulls.Where do you get off, asking people for help and information, (And then bashing them) which you can't even understand the technology? I will tell you this, I have helped alot more people with their tractors than any one in my area. No complaints yet! I think you are acting very rude, almost childish. If you want to continue bashing me, FINE! But until you have walked a day in my shoes, accomplished what I have done, then you have ground to stand on. You have the nerve to call me a liar before, but you have got nothing to prove me wrong. Anyone who has seen my H pull, Like what they have seen. Like I said, when you grow a brain, and actually show some respect for a vetern puller, and yes I said vetern, then come here to YT and talk about pulling,

Don't have it, don't want it but their was one guy in the hook book that advertised Posi trac/limed slip differential for a farmall M for around 750 to 800 dollars, i am pretty sureHOW IT WORKS....The "posi-traction" modification to these antique tractors is not a differential swap out. What "they" are selling is a kit that when installed will place a pre-determined level of binding in your existing differential. This moderate binding will force a small amount of bias to the "non-spinning" wheel. Often this is enough to keep the tractor moving if one wheel hits a loose spot. The level of bias (binding in the differential) can be changed depending on your personal preference. If the differential is too tight it can "lock" or make some pretty disturbing noises when turning. The "kit" to modify your differential is most likely some type of washer,
bronze flat bearing, and/or shim stock, depending on the model of tractor in which it will be installed. On some models of tractor this phenomenon can also be accomplished by removing shims from the bearing caps on the bull pinions, thus putting a little squeeze into the differential side gears. Be careful if trying this for the first time, as it is very easy to remove too many shims and "lock" the rearend!

It is just like an automotive posi set up. A car rear axle has a carrier with clutch pads, spider gears, bearings, and axles. A tractor rear end has a differential carrier, spider gears, brake pinions, and bull gears. The tractor differential does not have a wheel bolted directly to the diff. carrier, it has a bull gear. We have built an axle, that installs through the differential carrier, and the brake pinions, we have built a clutch pack that mounts off to one side on the brake hub, with a heavy guage plate. the clutch mounts on the outside of the tractor housing so you can adjust the tolerance on the clutch. With this setup, it makes the differential, and brake pinions act like a automotive differential, without changing bearing tolerence, or any excess strain on the differential.

I would be concerned with bearing life after tightening bearing clearences. We have designed a clutch pack for this kit. It can handle the biggest engine an antique tractor han produce. Even the V8 modified antiques use our kits. Over 800 hp! I know that aftermarket parts have a certain reputation, like Denny's. He should have put a little more effort in developing his product technology, listened to what his customers really needed in stead of what he gave them. I may be thought of Denny JR. HA HA! Thats ok, But I am still not afraid to share technology! The biggest problem in pulling today , is this, and this is my opinion! I have been in pulling for over 15 years, I am 28 yrs old, and I don't intend on quitting yet. Anyway, I have been protested repeatedly in the past with our Hs because we were winning alot. Everyone protested me because they wanted to know what we were doing to our tractors to make them run the waty they do. They did not ask, they demanded! I said fine! I started telling them what they needed to know, after that, the protesting slowed, then stopped, and even seen designs from our tractors added to their tractors and they started winning too! Lots of pullers like to keep secrets and I think that is fine! I like to help fellow pullers achive their goals to win at the pulls! I am a machinist with limited resources, and I work with what I have. I work on my tractors constantly tring to improve them day by day. I am a tractor puller, not a con artist, and the parts I hand build to your specs are great ways to improve your tractor. Noone has to buy the anything from me, but when they ask for info, I try to help them in the best way I know how from my own 15 year trip down tractor pullin alley! Thank you ChadS

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like it is a waste of time and money. Most pullers I talked to say it didn't make one bit of differents. I know a few pullers that welded theirs solid. When they pulled, the tractor would hit a soft spot and go off the track.

$750 to $800? WOW that alot of money for $3 worth of shim stock and it doesn't even work. No wonder ChadS (Denny JR) is tring to sell them. A easy way to finance his magic H.

That is what every one says that has not used a posi. There is an oliver in michigan who would dispute any disrespectful comments that you choose to throw at our products. And by the way, my H was built way before we started marketing products. No magic, just experience. The kits we offer are nothing like a 3.00 part. it is great technology for tractors. You don't have to bash me because you listened to some one elses opinion. ChadS

I would be more than happy to! We are building these kits for Farmall H-M, Oliver 66-88, Massey Harris, MM R-UB&G. The kits for tractors range in price according to HP. We offer 3 different kits, light, medium, and heavy duty. The light kits are 749.00+shipping. the medium and heavy kits are 849.00+ shipping. Any way, we have about 200 of these units in antique pulling tractors all over the country, we have got incredible responce from the customers on the difference thier tractors perform. I have used these units in my own tractors for years un til they changed rules not allowing them so, I had to remove it from my club tractors. I can tell you this, in a distance pull, division 3 and up
this kit works well. We have built an axle that installs through your exiting carrier and mounting a clutch pack on the end of the axle. The clutch can be used as alimited slip or a posi. your choice. I have built them for MMs and this MM has went from 3rdplace to 1st place by over 10 feet over the rest of the class. Email me at [email protected] for more info. ChadS

So what if he responds to everybody. He is usally full of BS but most of you are to dumb to know it. It's funny that he is the only one that will talk about his wonderful H. He can't tell the name of one NATPA puller that he has beaten. He clames some wild horsepower but then tells about it blowing up when you want to see it for yourself. He also forgets to tell you that it runs on alcohol. He ansewers his own post and clames it is someone else.
Maybe I can just spot a pile of BS with ears better than you.

One thing you cannot dispute, I have been there. Been to ALL of Hartford KY pulls, NATPA andUSAP. many times as well as Princeton IN. Been froze to death, been rained on by buckets, been protested, been disqualified, been a winner. No contest! I know for the past 15 years I have seen the best, pulled against the best, and beaten the best. There are better tractors and drivers outhere, ones with bigger engines, money, experience etc.etc. Just like drag racing, some one is always faster than you. Thats competition. I am not better than anyone else, nor do I insult them, but for the pullers who know me and my tractors, they know I am there to win, and they know what to do to their tractors to improve. So, go on! trash me as a tractor puller! So what! I ain't shy. I speak my mind, and I do not expect everyone to understand everything I tell them, that's why I try to explain it better. So, if you are so smart, and read all my posts, what would you do different? Call someone else and let them solve it? Or actually try and do it yourself.

HA! What do you want? No one ever took me up on the offer. I really don't care if you choose to talk sh!t about me. You don't like me, right? so what!! I can't help if what I tell these people makes sence to them and not to you. If you think I am full of BS thats ok with me. I am not bashing you. May I ask you a question? Apperantly you must pull against me, or have followed the NATPA or USAP circuit in the old days? You want to know who I've beaten huh? Is it that important to you? I toured the NATPA back in 98-2000 season. pulled 3500 lb classes up to 4500lbs division 3 and 4. Just for a little background. I pulled my 40 H and a 50 H. If you want names, OK. how about Wheeler Rittenger, Jack Tarbil, Gary Baker, Bill Burch. Just to name a few. And they have beaten me too! I have been told I have a split personality, but I never answer my own posts unles I added to it. My wife April, got on this computer and sent her own message to all. I do talk about my H alot. SO WHAT!!! that is what this forum is for!!! I have completed the nessisary repairs to get my H going again and it will be bad as ever!! I think you just like bashing people who are succesful to compensate for your ego! You know what, You said my H is "magic" well, it is, to me. It will walk the walk, and talk the talk. Why do you dislike me so much?

I have run Methanol before, it is a wonderful fuel. My H runs gas and ethanol mix. Why don't you calm down a bit, and let's get along or try to. I do not enjoy unnesisary bashing, who does? I am a tractor puller. I have a great reputation with our customers and fellow pullers, and that is all that matters to me. I apreciate your deconstructive criticism, I can take it. It's OK. I am not about to trash you pesonally like you trash me. If you knew that I build these kits and did not want me to answer your post, why did you post a question about posi tracs, and why didn't you just say "ChadS, your opinion is not wanted here!" Thats all it takes. I am sorry if I stuck my nose in your question, maybe you were not ready for new technology that I am offering. Just try and find some one else who is building posi tracs and patronize them?

YOU ALL ARE WELCOME! I hope I have been able to help some of you. Tractor pulling is an art,a sport, and to some, a disease. For me, it is all the above. I salute any puller out there who wants to be the best they can be. I know there are alot of pullers outhere who have worked hundreds of late nights on their tractors to make all the other competitors take notice on the tracks. I know what it takes to be the best. I have been there in the spotlight lots of times, not tring to brag or tear anyone down. I have been pulling for 15 years personally, my dad has been pulling since the mid 60s, we put that all together and it has been a long and bumpy ride, but I say this to any person who is just starting in this sport. Do not give up, have hope, it is rough starting out but as time goes on, you could be the next big thing on the pulling tracks, for many years to come!!! Good Luck to all!!!! And be safe, Happy pulling! ChadS
