I pull a Oliver super 88. I have plenty of brackets to go from 5000 to 7500. But I want to try my chances in the 8500. So I decided to add what some call a belly bar. It is just a foot or so in front of the rear tires hanging under the frame. My question is should I just use it to put the extra 1000 pounds on for the 8500. Or would it help the balance of it in the other classes too? For instance would it be better to put (just say I'm pulling 7500 tractor weighs 5000) 1500 on the back 1200 on the belly bar and like 300 on the front. Or should I put 1800 on the back and pile 700 on the front. I would appreciate anyones thoughts!

I feel that the belly bracket is excelent to have in any class the weight can be sacrificed. we us it almost all the time on our tractors, sometimes you will see a tractor earlier pull, and you see that 2 weights are heavy up front, but the guy that has 1 weight up front is too light, so, we just comprimise and have 1 up front and 1 on the belly bracket. hope this helps, a puller

every tractor works different on how its weighted and everyone has there own ideas on this, but i think fill the back bracket put what you think you need on the front and the rest on the belly brackets if needed. note that every track will not be the same and take the same amount of weight front or back more or less depending on conditions.

I agree. I usually compensate a light front end with weights on the belly bracket. It really helps balance the tractor out. Hope this helps ChadS
