Hi, I have an A JD and the governor is wide open. It will soon have a powerblock and I wondered if I kept it this way, will I blow my tractor up pulling? Is it safe to leave it this way or not is what I'm after I guess. Thanks. Luke

Luke,
if you get excited and push the trottle for all it's worth constantly, than yes somethings gonna give out. However taking off at a more normal throttle, and adding the RPMs more gradual will make it less likely to cause damage, however you have to get it up to the desired RPM before the tractor starts lugging, or you've lost any advantange that you would have gained to begin with. I don't think it's a good Idea, but if you have a high low 3 speed A, and you don't poke it and stroke it, than I guess you'll have to get more RPM's if you want to do anygood pulling. From what I've seen the straight 6 speed transmission on the late model A's with the 1.5 MPH first gears are alot easier to pull with.
