What would you do to a Farmall M

If you had a 39 M ,with a super m kit, and where gonna put aroud 2000 dollars into it what would you do, its already lightened up and has electronic ignition, dry element air filter, and some head work.

First of all, tell us what you expect of this tractor. If you have the Super M kit, including 4.125 pistons, there's little else you can do in this area, short of stroking - which runs into $$$. Are you running out of power? Do you spin out well before you run short of power?

If you want barn-burning power as well as the traction to go with it, you'll need more than that $2000. Generally tires and weights would be the first consideration. Otherwise, decide where the weakness is and put your money there. It usually all comes down to balance.

It will be hard to get 70 hp from a stock block. The best you can hope for is around 55, without major engine mods. Go for the 450 pistons with the smaller wrist pins. Try for Firecraters, but if unavailable, see if someone offers high altitude pistons. Use an LP engine head, if you can find one. Get an LP intake/exhaust manifold too. Beware, changing heads may get you DQ'd in the stock classes. If you move up to modified, $2000 won't begin to touch what you need. This setup might get you hp in the middle 50s, which should easily pull in second in any conditions.

BTW, I pull in second half the time... using 16.9 tires and an old stock M engine. You really shouldn't need 70 hp.
