Wheelie Bars Needed ?

Have been a spectator at a few tractor pulls and have never seen anyone come close to lifting up the front end and using the wheelie bars. How often does it happen that the bars actually stop the tractor from tipping ?

i know that i have a set of wheelie bars on my H and have used them several times. i have also built several sets for various other farmall H's and M's and they all use them and are thankful they have them.

If it keeps the insurance charge down that will keep the hook fee down. And no we don't we need them . Mine cost about a $100 aii togather.

I have never entered a tractor pull, I have an old MTD that I would like to enter in the county fair garden tractor pull. Wheelie bars are required. Can anyone direct me to a site with plans, source, specifications etc.

I'm 15 years old and I go to alot of pulls.I am just starting out with my H Farmall and the first thing I put on was wheele bars. My dad pulls a Super M Farmall and it has wheele bars too. We put no weight in the front at all. He has got back on them three or four times, and they worked.

Im 14 years old and got to alot of tractor pulls, and they always have been tractors that have the wheelie bars stop them. Sometimes it's where u have the wiehgts positioned on the tractor, to keep the wheelie bars from hiting the ground.

one night years ago I saw a puller get the green flag, and pour the coal to it to come out of the hole in style, only to find that the pull back tractor had not unhooked from the sled. That JD 4020 stood straight up, and the only thing that kept it from turning back over was that he had a bunch of suitcase weights mounted on his three point hitch, and they got wedged back against the sled, plus the chain was stretched tight and kept the back wheels from rolling forward, and the front toppling on back. That tractor was just wedged there ballanced on its back tires and weights. After the drivers shock wore off and he got done pissing himself, it took about 4 big boys and 2 deputy sherriffs to keep him from throttling the driver of the pull back tractor, for not letting down the hitch and releasing the sled. I'd say that night, a good set of wheelie bars would have come in handy. It sure was a calamity, getting it all straightened out. Anyhow to each his own I guess

YES!!! they r needed... Louisville, Ky tractor pull,, 197??? I was there,, It was like seeing everything is slow motion!!! There were thousands of people screeming their lungs out, everything was in fog. The driver just kept pouring the power on, slowly the tractor kept going up, up & then over, The driver was under, falling off the seat. He just won't stop. O.K.??

I only think you hear about wheelie bars when they don't work or are not on and something happens.I have used mine when i have the front weighted wrong and let it slide on them.

I set my wheelie bars so that when the front end comes up is it parrallel to the ground (in my case about 6 inches off the ground), at that point my draw bar and the chair are exactly straight so that I can't break traction by hitting the wheelie bars to hard. This has worked very well for me.
