I need some advice on how to hook up a break-away kill switch on a m farmall. I've got one for a trailer that completes a circut when pulled. Can I use that to ground the spark somewhere or will that just smoke the wire? What works the best?

I used a trailer plug. I found a nice round chrome four prong round male and female. Put a stainless eye bolt in the male end for the cable to hook to the sled. This was the neatest I found. I don't like to use a trailer break-away unless the tractor has a mag; nothing like a direct short to fry something!

I use an electrical receptale and plug like on the end of an extention cord. Loop the wire inside the plug. I have spliced this into the wire from the on/off switch before the distributer. When you pull the plug it breaks the connection. Clamp the receptacle to the back of the tractor an add a ring to the plug to hook the tether from the sled to.

You need to connect it to the small wire between the coil and distributor

Do you mean the ground wire or to the coil wire itself?

I assumed that you had a distributor and the wire that I used is the hot wire that goes to the + side of the coil. Break that connection and everything stops. If you have a mag. this will not work for you as you would need a switch that goes to ground . Good luck
