I have been an antique puller for about 15 years. Things have finally went my way and I am looking to build a prostock. I was wondering which one of these tractors would be a better tractor to build. I want the all around best tractor. Which one should I look to buy?

Why not a 6030 Deere?

not to start an argument or anything but in my opinion it takes to much work to get a 6030 as light as I want to go and still hook up well. Don't get me wrong they do make a heck of a pullin tractor!

There are just as many parts available for the red one or the green one, but the red one would be cheaper. As for the 4055, you would need to start with something else. A 4010, 4020, or 30 series is usually the beast of choice. You can put whatever kind of sheetmetal on it you want. I am a JD man myself, but I can tell you from experience, that the 1066 is a hard tractor to beat, and it is a good starting point for building a prostock.

go with the MM 1000 it will keep you different from everyone else.(the 4055 deere and the 1066 INT.)but will not cost you out the butt like it would to build a 2255 Oli because of the cat engine you would have to buy cat parts Which are more expensive. just my suggestion.

I'd go with a 4055 or a 1066. I'm a Deere man but I'd say to go with either of these because of parts availibility. I know that most prostock tractor pullers spend gobs of money, but what If you needed a seat, paint, or anything specific to the tractor. It's as simple as jumping in the truck and heading to the local dealer; most things are in stock. Now, does the 4055 have a naturally aspirated 466? I'd go with it because because I'm a Deere man. I also know that when I see hot running tractors at pulls there are usually a little more competitive Red's. I believe that there might be more aftermarket goodies available for the reds. By the way, do they also have 466's in them? The initial Cost is usually cheaper also. So..I'd say to call around and price engine performance from specialized brand shops and also places like Columbus Diesel and Scheid and others.

I got pretty long winded; hope this helps.

John

If you are going prostock please build something other than red or green. Seems everyone has them. Be original go with the oliver, MM, or try a case. You would be very popular if something besides red or green wins. Just my opinion.

If I were you I would go with the Cat powered Oliver. Everyone would love that tractor, except for the ugly green and yellow ones. I think you would really like having a different tractor than most of the others, of course the Moline would be good too. The Oliver also has the three speed hydra shift that will help

I kind of like the old orange ones.We all know what a D21 will do, or a 210 or 220.
