If it's open to tracks, too, the D11 would be good because you would't have to steer all the way across the field. Would be interesting to see which one has more drawbar pull, the D11 or the 16V747.

If I had one of my Cat bibles, I could tell you, but it's going to be tough for the Big Bud in any case. A D11 weighs in the neighborhood of 245,000 lbs.

The BIG BUD is the one I wonder about. No 11's around here, but I've seen numbers on them. I run 6's and 8's at work and would love to jump on an 11 just once. I can tell you though, my first word would probably be a quiet and humble "wow".

I worked on Cats for a couple of years, but the biggest I got to work on was a D9G, and that thing was a monster. The dealership I worked for had a video of a certified rebuild they did on a D9 once. There is a separate parts book for certified rebuilds, that shows every part that must be replaced, and the machine is give a new serial number after the rebuild. The video showed some of the work on the crawler, but the highlight was the footage of the engine being run on a dyno prior to reinstallation - good stuff. My tech school class took a field trip to the coal mines in Wyoming's Thunder Basin. We got to see D11 carry-dozers in operation with big Balderson blades for resculpting the overburden back into hills. It was impressive, and aftef they're done reclaiming, you can't even tell the area was ever mined.

What models of tractor? What horsepower range? What kind of dirt and previous crop? How big of a plow? Stock tractors or ones that have been tweaked? Are you also going to compare fuel economy? Your question is way to vague.
