Which tires should I use?

I have a JD 70 gas that I have just finished rebuilding. I was wondering which tire size I should use on it if I tractor pull it. 14.9x38 or 18.4x38. thanks for your input.

If you have around 55 hp or less I would run the 14.9's. If you have lots-O-power! run the 18.4's. I have a 70 gas with about 70hp and 18.4's. I plan on pulling it this summer but I am not sure if I have lots-o-power. Good luck!

Well it depends on what you have done to the engine, if you left it stock go with the 14.9's, because with that fast first gear it just doesn't have that much power to keep going, a friend of mine has a 70 LP and we finally gave up on it because we kept power out with 15.5's, or if you've stroked and bored ect. go with the 18.4's,
