What are you guys using for a kill switch for an ignition system with a distributor? I do not like the idea of using a trailer breakaway and shorting the system out. I have seen guys use a electrical outlet and receptical. I would like to use something a little neater in appearance. Possible a tether switch???, would need to normally closed. Thanks in advance.

Jim

run your hot wire to the back of the tractor and secure it someway. make a small loop with inline connectors and then go back to the dist. if you break away from the sled, i assure you that the loop will come apart at the connectors.

Jim the trailer breakaway works real good if you set it up with a in line fuse then use a breaker insted of a fuse. Kill switches for bikes and snowmobiles are fine but they usually do not hold as good and sometimes breakaway when you don't want them to!

use an ATV kill switch..... racers use them in case they fall off their ATV it is connected to them and it will kill the motor.....the best are made by Pro Design and are offered in a large variety of colors..... expensive though compared to the breakaway..... ..around 40 bucks

We use a starter switch. Go to a junkyard find a push button starter switch off an old truck or tractor. Weld a washer onto the end up a small piece of pipe, the washer large enough to fit over the threaded part of the switch. Slide it on, then thread the nut back on to hold on the washer which holds the pipe. Drill a hole in the pipe and put a pin through (like one on the bottom of a drawpin) so that when it is in it holds the switch closed. Only 2 wires to hook up, pull the pin and the circuit is open. I make it sound complicated but it's quick and easy, and most of all, cheap. I can e-mail a picture if you'd like if I didn't describe it very well. Darren
