I purchased an ignitor pointless ignition for my U..... I thought I had a Delco distibutor because i had Delco cap..... . the ignitor will not fit..... what kinda distibutor could i possibly have?

I think the screw on cap distributors are later models, and the clip type used up to early 1960's(?) Does the U have a newer engine?

got it figured out..... .pertronix did not ask if i had a screw on or clip on cap..... they handled it well though.....shipping me the right one before i even ship there's back..... happy w/ their service

Maybe a Prestolite,if so throw it away and get a delco.

it is a delco-remy but it has a clamp on cap and the diagram w/ my ignitorhas a screw on cap.....could a 12v negative cap be different than a 6v neg?

Might call Motec @ 765 963 6628. Matt recurved my distributor on my U, very knowledgeable on MMs.
