Just curious about the opinions you guys have out there in puller land on tires. What is the best uncut tire to use in stock or fun classes? I run old Armstrongs and hook right up on the transfer and dead weight. Opinions? What about any new tires? Too soft? I would like to hear some folks weigh in on their tire ideas and stories.

I've been told that Firestone 151's that have "gum dipped" written on the sidewall (evidently a rubber curing process) are a great pulling tire. I have some 13.6x38 co-op brand tires that we have been quite successfull with. I just purchased a set of 16.9x38 of that same brand that we will be trying next year. I think that any tire that has 25-50% SHARP tread will work well in the Farm Stock classes. I've seen brand new tires that have nice sharp tread that bite nice, but then throw a hudge pile of dirt in front of the sled. I noticed in another posting that someone had hooked their tractor front to whatever and pulled in reverse on concrete. Claimed that this sharpened tires up like they were road-worn. I don't know if this works, never tried it. It would be nice if someone else that had some experience would post the results.

Titan is using the old Armstrong mold with I think there HI-POWER line. I think they were MAX-TRAX before armstrong. There are a couple other small manufactures also making good pulling tires

Armstrong's about 1/2 to 2/3 worn work well for me, 16.9x38's wide angle bar on a JD-G pulling in 5500-7000lb classes, I place very well with them and win every now and then also. I wouldn't trade them for a new set. I have people ask me often if I would sell them. The Firestones are a good pulling tire also, 1/2 to 2/3 worn and the wide angle bar. I have a set of the Firestone's 15.5x38's on a JD-A pulling in 4500-6000lb classes. Those are the 2 brands I would recommend.
