What are the tractor set-up requirements to pull?

I am just wondering how I would have to have my tractor set up to pull. It's a Farmall super C. Do I need anything more than just drawbar? Or do I need a special kind of hitch. I have watched many pulls, yet somehow I don't remember what the setup was. I am interested in getting it set up to pull this summer, so I was wondering if there was a guide/rule book or something on what you had to do to your tractor. I guess different pulling associations may different rules, but any info would be appreciated.

You'll have to check with the association you're pulling in on specific rules, because on things like weight bracket lengths and wheelie bar deminsions are different from club to club.
But some things are basic in any of them:
A fixed hitch point - a clevis bolted down so it doesn't move is usually good enough. Out-of-farm classes usually don't even require that. Most assoc.'s limit the height of the hitch point (the point where the hook lands) to be 20" from the ground.
Wheelie bars are usually required - Most assoc.'s will allow simple ones bolted to the draw bar.

Where are you at? I'm sure someone on here can tell you what's required in the assoc.'s around your parts. Also check association and club websites, most post their rules and that ought to give you a good idea as to what you'll need.

It's never a good idea to fasten the wheelie bars to the hitch. If the hitch breaks, you are in trouble. There was a F30 Farmall that proved that in Columbus a few years back, and a Farmall M that did something similar around Dubuque IA a few years back.

The link below will take you to another board, and then you can click on USAP, COATPA, NATPA, OSATPA, and others for their rules.
