I am building a VAH/VAC for my son to pull in 2700 and 3000# class. There is a lot you can do depending on the rules. You can put in a old model 148 CID and take out the 124 CID engine or you can find a 201 out of a combine and put it in, but it is 2 inches longer. The late 148 engines are about 1" longer, but will fit. I know the late 148 and the 201 have a counter ballanced crank, but is heavier, I guess that depends on how many RPMs you want to turn. Case made 3 different size bull gears for the VAC a 65, 66, 67 tooth. Most are 66 and will pull fine, but if you want to pull the heavier classes find a 67 bull and some 12 tooth bull pinions. The heads are easy to work and you can take .125 off easy and still have enough meat if your cooling system is OK. The heads have 4 intake ports instead of 2 like most tractors so that is easy to work with if they let you get by with a home built manifold you can really make it flow. Small block chevy valves can be adapted real easy. Massey 22 9 bolt hubs will fit right on with no mods. There is a lot you can do and yes 2500# is easy to get two, but that won't leave much weight to play with and you will need some on the front.. Any questions e-mail me.. CASEPOWER
