A friend of mine is letting me use a JD delco distributor converted to electronic by no other than DENNY. Has has one of the two wires marked to go to the - side of the coil. Where does the other wire hook up at? Nice answers please.

Don't forget the resistor you need.

That is dependent on what type of coil is being used. Borg Warner makes a coil with the internal resistor as does Pertronix's Flamethrower coil. Good thing to check

I wonder which type of electronic ignition? Some have variable length dwell depending on the rpm to eliminate the need for a resistor.

First be sure you are running a negative ground 12v system. There are some 6v units but most likely it is for 12v system.

Second the red wire attaches to the (+) post on the coil along with the wire coming from the switch. The black wire attaches to the (-) post on the coil.

If you have access to a dyno, you can dial the sweet spot of the distributor to gain peak HP.

Good luck

Nice enough for ya?

And be darned sure you bring the ignition (hot) wire to the + side also... anything else will blow the ignition sensor.
