Can anyone tell me which is better. The lightest tractor in the 3,600-4,500 pound class, or the heaviest tractor in the 0-3,600 pound class. They use a percentage calculation around here.I am not sure how it works though. I have a WD45 with a strong motor and 14.9x 28 tires. She weighed in at the feed store at 3,825 with fenders,a full tank of fuel and me sitting on it. I could go to either class. It seems like there is an argument but I don't know what I am doing either. Thanks for your help in advance. BIG DUMMY

Years ago I pulled in some percentage pulls, and most pullers would try to weigh in just over the minimum weight. The percentage is figured by multiplying box weight by inches the box moved, adding the pan weight (at start of pull) and dividing that total by the weight of the tractor. Usually the math will get you a better percentage with a lighter tractor than a heavier one. Mike

Ummm.. generally you try to make the tractor as heavy as you possibly can... and not go over the limits of the class you are pulling in.
