i am looking for a good stock pulling tractor to pull at a local track. all i have worked on are farmall cubs.(too small) any suggestions on a good affordable tractor to buy? it must fit on a 6'x 16' tandem trailer. i like the john deere b, or a super h (except the h is 3" too wide to fit between the sides. thank you phillip

I have an IH H and a 300 IH tractor and have pulled both, turning cast dish around should get you on the trailer. The 300 wt will be in the 5200 lbs. with one set of wts. on rear wheels, I pull in 5600 and 6600 lbs. class. Pulling in low side of low I do very well. This is stock class. The H will be about 4250 lbs. with 1 set of rear wheel wts. The H pulls well and wins often on a grass or soft track, but have trouble powering out on dry hard track. My biggest comp. is A john deer, 77 oliver and wd allis. Go watch some pulls and jump and have fun, you will learn something every day.

Look for a AC WD or WD 45 Either should fit both trailer and pocket book. Lots of fun and fairly easy to work on.

What if you turned the cast iron wheel around, with the dish to the outside, on the H. that will bring the wheel in.

an H I don't think will have enough power hardly, unless you do work on it. A moline is good, and a farmall is good, but, and alis wd, wd45, or wc should be a real good size. I know a guy that has at least 60 hp with just big bore...so he says!! I'm a JD person, but, I don't know what exact kind of class your pullin in. I know if you pull around here with a slow low type JD A, you better be in 2nd gear to compete(requires at least 50 hp). I would go with A alis wd, when you go to big time, an oliver, or a farmall, parts are scarce for moline, and expensive.
