I am wondering which tractor would be a better puller in a hot farm class. I have seen a White 2-135 and an IH 1466 for sale. I believe the transmission is alot better in the White, along with a bigger engine. Please tell me why which one would be better.

MHO, I love the transmission in the White for whatever u want to do. The only advantage the IH has is the head and parts availability for pulling. That being said I would go with the White (1) It would be different,(2) in a hot farm application it would be an awesome tractor and since most hot farm rules have an rpm limit and a turbo limit it would be a neat tractor with the over/under drive. (3) Initial cost for the white is probably less. Have fun George

I agree. I like both tractors but have whites myself. What do you always see on pulling circuits? Red and green...time for some change. I think the 2-135 has the hercules engine too and supposedly they're good tough motors. Just what I heard anyway. Darren

The 2-135 Whites are very popular in northern Maine and New Brunswick because of the Oliver connection. They pull well in the heavy stock classes. up to about 20,000 lbs. The ones I have seen have the full cast belly pan under the motor. I think they would be to heavy for the light weights of the super farm classes. It would be hard to balance them and will take a great deal of effort to lighten them up enough. That being said it would be different. I am about done building a IH1468 super farm. It is going to figure to be about twicw what I could have done a 1066/1466 for but it will sound different and look different so I would say go for it if you have the money

It's not as tough to lighten as u might think. I had a 2255 that weighed 7485 with the tub. Later, we made a tube frame that reduced the weight to 6500 with the sfi 47.1 cage and a 260# driver. If u want to try it let me know.
