Is a ballast resistor required with a pertronix pick up and MSD ignition and coil? The MSD wiring diagram doesn't show one.

I have a capacitive discharge box. You are wasting your time using a pertronix pickup for firing. Just use the points pick up or get a flywheel sensor if you really want to do it right.

Do yourself a favor and throw the pertronics in the toilet. I have seen them not perform properly on more than one pulling tractor.

Make sure you cut the appropriate wire(inside the Msd box) for the cylinder setting(4,6,8).

Get yourself a good set of wires, not solid core. I bought a set from Summit for a chev V-8 and had enough for two M's and a John Deere. They were MSD wires.
