I am hoping to repaint our JD 4430 soon. I really hatr to use deere's cheap synthetic paint by the time I go to all the work of painting a tractor that large. I am not interested in a "show" quality paint job or hardner. This is after all my main field tractor and it is meant to be used. After my problems with the extremely long recoat time on unhardened OMNI, I figure I am left with dupont. So my question. Is Centari worth the money if I don't use hardner, or should I go with Nason?

Thanks,
seth

Sounds like you are a good candidate for DuPont Industrial coating, you could use Tufcote 3.5HG, it is alkyd technology, can be used with or without hardener, is available in John Deere green, keep in mind any coating left outside without hardener will chalk and fade sooner than with hardener, but if this is to be used and not shown then no problem.

So is an acrylic not worth it if no hardner is used?

Centari is just cheap paint without hardener.

Rather than Centari, try Nason Fulthane. It is head and shoulders above the Centari in quality and durability. It is mixed by your local Dupont dealer where you get your Centari and costs about the same as the Centari.

The only thing I don't like about Fulthane is it is so sticky. Wear long sleeves and a cap. A fresh air supply system is also recommened. Not only for Fulthane but for any catalized paint.

acrylic will last longer than syntecic ,but the job is not worth doing without hardner ,all of my tractors are cleared with ppg automotive clear .a very good paint is ppg LIC polyurethane .du pnot industrial imron is good too ,but you need supplied air to spray those paints .cheap paint aint cheap ,the cost of a paint job is 80% prep.do it right with the best paint you can afford and you wont be sorry . been painting 20 years and good paint is the cheapest way to go ..... ..... .imo. m t
