I am going to paint an old gooseneck stock trailer that we use here on the farm. My question is, can it be too hot to spray paint? I have a shop that I can get it in but it has a dirt floor and I was worried about the dust. What kinda job can I expect if I paint under a shade tree? Or is it too hot,day time temps 90-100 degrees. Thanks for any advice anyone moght have to offer.

I personally hate to paint anything important outside due to all the variables outside of your control, of course I have had birds fly into the shop and crap on wet paint but I still prefer painting inside. I think the biggest problem you will have painting when it is that hot is the paint will dry really fast not allowing you to hold a wet edge. Ideally you try to keep the paint wet long enough that any overspray that may settle on it can be absorbed into the wet paint but if the paint dries to quickly the overspray will settle on it and dull the finish.

Might want to consider spraying down the dirt floor with a bit of water just before you paint. Will help control any dust you might kick up as your moving around.

ALso painting under trees has a problem of sap falling from the trees. I don't like to park anything I really care about under a tree because of the sap. And also from the birds that like to sit over your project to be painted and play bombs away! :>)
