Originally, the front rims would have been plated or galvanized. Case/IH sells a silver that looks about right, at least to my eye.
The starter and generator would have already been mounted on the tractor when it came down the line for painting, and they would have been painted red with everything else.

Cub front rims were orginally RED, all red. Due to the one piece wheel that the Cub has, IH didn't bother to paint it two different colors. However, many Cub collectors like the look of the two tone front Wheel, SIlver Rim, Red center. They look nice and match the larger Farmalls with two piece wheels. Everything else was RED, All red the whole tractor. Starter Generator even the gear shift knob,,, RED. Many will argue that the starter and generator's were black, not true, the black ones were replacement parts, From the Factory..... RED. (Just like your garage floor will soon be)

Passionate about Cubs..... .Redder Dave
