Folks: In a situation where a painted part needs to be durable, but can't really be seen, would it be ok to brush or roll on the paint with hardener? We once spray painted a truck frame, primed with Glazurit epoxy, with PPG acrylic enamel, the hardware store variety, with hardener added, and it turned out real good. I am thinking if I could brush or roll it, and have a breeze blowing through, I could avoid the problems of Isocyanate fumes. It's another frame I'm doing. Thanks!

PPG acrylic enamel is not hardware store paint. You will still have fumes with a roller, but not near the extent as with a sprayer. I would wear a respirator, with good ventilation, but I would not do it for long periods of time, or repeatedly, as the effects of isos are cumulative, and you will eventually be sensitized, and unable to resist any exposure at all. This question is best answered on one of the paint forums, I think one site is www.autobodystore.com.
