I got overspray on my Ford paint(dark blue) and used polishing compound to get it off and it looks very bad, if you wax it, it stays shinny until it rains, then it shows it again. What can i do to get it back to shiny new paint? can a car detailer do something? Please help.

Go get one of those orbital buffers with a nice fuzzy pad. Get in the shade and use the buffer to apply something like LIquid Ebony or one of the detailing glazes. Your local body supply shoul be able to set you up with the right stuff. What you are seeing is the scuffs from the polishing compound, which is pretty harsh stuff. The trick with liquid ebony is to keep the surface wet with it for some time while it is being worked with the buffer. Don't simply use the buffer to wipe the compound off the surface.
You could use a normal sander polisher like the pros use but....it is way too easy to burn the paint and destroy it if you don't have good technique. The orbital buffers are almost foolproof.
Next time you get overspray on the truck, try a solvent first, then use the buffer. Don't soak the finish with the solvent or you'll be really sorry, but if it is all factory paint it will do the least damage to the shine. Stay away from any areas spot repaired with lacquer (If you have any..)

You may have to wet sand it and shoot it with a clear coat.....
