WE have a Cambell and hustfield 5hp 13 gallon tank air compresser. I think it says 6.9 something @90psi. I think. I am looking at a craftsman paint gun that requires 7.0 @ 90 psi. Will our compresser run the gun? All other guns say the same thing. what does all that suff mean any way?

Thanks for your help

The 6.9 means cubic feet per minute usually written "CFM". This is how much volume of air is moved per minute while spraying.

Most compressors of 2HP and up will be more than adequate to use a spray gun like you mention or most any gun available. Most paints are sprayed at 55 to 70 PSI "pounds per square inch". This fiqure represents the pressure that you adjust the compressor output pressure to using a regulator valve with a pressure gauge mounted to the compressor before the hose going to the gun.

The 90 PSI on your compressor is close to the max PSI that the tank should build during use.
