I need to paint my rear wheel centers. it is a huge problem for this old man to remove the rears so I want to brush paint the rear centers.

Is it possible that I could use some of my acrylc enamel from NAPA, mix in some reducer and brush it on without streaking and allowing the paint to level out ?

Maybe even throw in a minor amount of hardener if I work fast?

I always brush on the paint when I paint the rims and the cast parts of a wheel. It looks as good as spray painting would. I don't think you have to use hardener.

I don't know what make/model of tractor you have. If it has cast centers, brushed on paint will not be the best, but will probably look ok (I haven't done it). If you have stamped centers (smooth metal) you will have brush marks. Why do you have to remove the wheels? May be necessary if they bolt to the hub, but if they slide on the axle, slide them out to the end and you should have room to spray paint the inside. Jack the wheel up and you can rotate it if necessary while painting. Use a high lift jack and chain to slide the wheel on the axle if you can't move it otherwise. An old-fashioned bumper jack would be lighter and easier to use. Remember, you are asking for trouble from isocyanates if you use hardener without an air supplied respirator, brush or spray.

Bill, I just finished painting some parts on my Farmall "A" with a brush and enamel right from the can and had very good results. If the parts are cast iron or cast steel you can do a resonable job but other parts, sheet metal and smooth finished parts will be much better spray painted. I buy the machinery enamel (IH red paint) from Tractor Supply and I do not thin it or use any additives for brush painting. Put it on thick enough to cover good but not so thick that it runs.
