I have the motor out of my tractor now and I thought while everything is apart it may be a good time to repaint the whole thing when I bolt the engine back in.I see that TSC has tractor enamel on sale and I wondered if it was any good? I think I would be using a hardener in it as I never seem to get paint to dry for me. Next question. This isn't a restoration here so I am not going to spend the time to take everyting down to bare metal and do all the fancy things needed for a parade quality job..On the other hand, if I am going to buy materials and take the time to spray it, I don't want it coming off with a hard rain so what would be the best approach and what prep products should I use? I plan to strip the tractor of the bolt on stuff and just do the rearend, tranny, and motor all at one time and I will scrub everything real good and clean, wire brush any loose areas, and scuff it all down with a scotchbrite type pad. What should I do at this point before I spray the enamel? Just for some backround info. I haven't touched a spray gun for 20yrs and that was the only time I ever did. This doesn't need to be a show quality job but I sure want it better than a brush and roller job! I guess my main worry is good adhesion and dry time and any good tips for a quick way to prep it. I really don't think I want to spend more than 1/2 a day getting it ready for primer if that helps. Thanks for any ideas! Ken tractor is an 8N that will be red/gray but the gray will be done later.
