I had posted a while back about a Bush Hog 2400 loader I had bought for my Ford 4400. I have the loader disassembled, sandblasted, coated with Must for Rust and stored in my work shop. I think I am going to use PPG Omni products since I have two platinum distributors close to me. I want to buy enough to do the chassis of the tractor at a later time (the sheet metal is a different color). Will the following quantities be enough?

1 gal MP170 Epoxy Primer
2 qt MP175 Primer Catalyst
1 gal MAE Acrylic Enamel
1 gal MR187 Reducer (extra for cleaning gun)
1 gal MX190 surface cleaner

I will not use hardener since I don't have a supplied air system.

I am going to use 12908 Blue since that seems to be correct for '65 & later Fords.

There is some pitting I'm not going to worry about. I'm not going for a show quality finish. I just want something durable. The Must for Rust did puddle up some areas. Will the MX190 clean these up or will I have to sand or scotch-brite these areas?

Any other tips besides following the product sheets?

I would say you are ok. The link (that you have already seen) gives the spec sheets. Coverage is on them, note that the number given is for no loss, you need to add 40% or so to that -- unless you have a very large loader, you probably have enough. Two things I would change, and this is only my opinion, nothing wrong with what you want to do. Remove all the Must for Rust you can with a scotchbite pad, it should get rid of most of the puddling, but you will still see residue -- I don't think that will hurt anything. I just don't like painting over something I can fairly easily remove. Instead of MX 190, which I have heard of but have never used, go over everything 3 or 4 times with PPG DX 330 wax and grease remover. Wipe it off, do not allow it to dry on the surface. Instead of using the 187 to clean the gun with, get a gallon of MS 251, it only costs about $10-$12.
