My wife went to a meeting today, so I got her to p/u some paint at the CIH dealer(hour and a half drive-and that's close). They have a good parts man, and an apprentice parts woman. I called to line up my order, primer, thinner, paint. This gal will not let you talk to parts man. Fine. My question to her was: Does the 2150 paint need compatible thinner and primer. Her reply; well all we sell is the paint! Fine. Told my wife to just get the paint. When we looked at the directions on can, "USE CNH PRIMER and CNH THINNER ONLY" . Now , I was half expecting this, but,you would think... . So, do I try the dealer that is hour and a quarter in the opposite direction, or is CNH 2150 ok with anything local? I don't feel like arguing with the desk jockey. Thanks.

If you have a John Deere dealer close by get some JD buff yellow primer this stuff works great! I use 2150 caseIH paint over it, only thing is the JD primer said you have to wait 36 hr's before top coating, also I use acrylic enamel reducer with the 2150 and JD primer I buy this at a auto paint store,

All you do-it-yourselfers ,save yourself a lot of grief ,go to a REAL paint store where they deal in real paint ie( PPG,Dupont,Martin Senior etc. They know paint and have the info you need to do the job, not to mention far superior quallity products. Tractor ,implement deallers dont know jack s*** about paint as youare finding out. Better yet, before tou go to the store lookit up ontheir web site so you are somewhat familiar with the terminology when you get to the store .LOL

I painted a tractor with the same paint your talking about and I used regular paint thinner that you buy at the hardware store and it worked fine for me. Just make sure you don't get lacquer thinner. But I do use lacquer thinner to clean my paint gun. It cleans better than paint thinner, just make sure the last time you spray thru your sprayer when cleaning, you do use paint thinner,so your next job doesn't get a spray of lacquer thinner.
