I have had this engine sitting in my shed for over 20 years. I know fron the Serial #, is was built in 1949. It was originaly on a Montgomery Wards Tractor, my Uncle had. This is all I know.
Serial # 1250679
Model# 57736

What is the HP?
What is it's value?
Is it worth more in it's non running condition, or should I restore it?
Is the Wisconson Engine Company still making engines?
Where do I get parts, or rebuild kits?
Where can I get the magneto repaired?

George, all I can tell you about Wisconsin engines is that the first swear words I can remember were coming from my uncle Roy who had a Wisconsin engine mounted on a case combine. I was only about 4 years old and I knew after that day that a Wisconsin engine was a bad thing!!!! I saw one sell a few years ago at a farm sale here in southern Ontario in running condition and it went for around$300. Guys used to run them on swathers, they liked the air -cooled engines.I could be wrong but I believe you can still get parts for them, but selling it as is is likely your best bet. If you rebuild it for someone else you might invest more in it than you can get. If someone needs an engine they will buy it and restore it to their specs. Often guys who repair alternators, generators and other ignition parts can fix you up with a magneto repair.Good luck from Mike in Exeter Ontario.
